Drug Treatment

February 22, 2016

Drug Treatment is a process by which an individual gains the understanding and tools to rebuild their lives and learns to live a normal life free from the bonds of drug and alcohol addiction. Often, recovery from drug addiction involves not only the process of going through a structured treatment program, but also a commitment to abstain from the use of mood altering substances.  The first part of process can begin by deciding to call Lighthouse Recovery Centers 888.329.9133

One of the most difficult parts of drug treatment is the detoxification process. The detoxification or detox process is designed to  manage the acute and potentially dangerous physiological effects of stopping drug use. Because it is often accompanied by unpleasant and potentially fatal side effects stemming from withdrawal, detoxification is often managed with medications administered by a physician in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Medications are available to assist in the withdrawal from opioids, benzodiazepines, alcohol, nicotine, barbiturates, and other sedatives.

After the detox process our clinical staff will guide you through group and individual therapy. Group therapy can also include family therapy to help those affected by addiction recover too. During this process you will learn new skills that will help you understand and change the addictive cycle. Treatment from drug addiction can be different for each individual. Our counselors provide an individualized treatment program.

As part of your treatment program you will be preparing to start a new life in recovery. The process of recovery does not end when you leave the recovery center. It could involve attending an outpatient facility or moving into a sober living environment. Attending a 12 step fellowship or creating a support group will help you as you continue the recovery process. These and other recovery decision will be worked out with your counselor and support team at Lighthouse Recovery Centers before you leave.
